I’m Tess Hunter—writer, fangirl, baker and candlestick maker.

Those last two aren’t entirely true. I haven’t made a candle since preschool and my best cookies have the words “slice and bake” printed on the package. But when it comes to all things wordy and nerdy, I’m your gal.

I’ve been writing regularly since I was thirteen. My early attempts were equal parts earnest and embarrassing, especially once I journeyed into the realm of fanfiction. Don’t knock it til you try it, there’s some amazing fanfic out there (mine is not among them).

Like the quote on my homepage says, when asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” my answer was easy—everything. I wanted to be an astrophysicist, a neurosurgeon, an archeologist, a marine biologist, an Air Force pilot. A wizard (I’m still holding out hope for that one).  It took a shamefully long time for me to realize that most of my dream jobs were born out of whatever media I was consuming at the time. If I couldn’t live in the worlds of my books, television shows, and movies, surely the next best thing was to write them. I was right.

What followed was a Bachelors in Film & Video Studies (with a specialization in Screenwriting), a Masters in Professional Writing, and a whole lot of content. Check out my Works for full details. I’ve mostly shifted gears from screen to novel (that’ll be the subject of another blog post) and am adapting several of my previous works.

I’ve lived in most US timezones, from Atlanta to St. Louis to Denver to Seattle, and one off the coast of England. Currently, I’m rooted back in my hometown of Colorado. The only thing I love more than my fandoms is my dogs. I mean, just look at them:

I am currently seeking representation.
